Urbana Elementary construction

Construction continues Friday on the new Urbana Elementary School on Urbana Pike.

Construction at Urbana Elementary School is “progressing well,” according to Paul Lebo, chief operating officer of Frederick County Public Schools.

The school, which is undergoing replacement due to previous crowding issues, is expected to reopen this fall for students. Construction began in April 2019 and is expected to be completed by this summer.

Students who will attend Urbana Elementary are currently attending Sugarloaf Elementary School.

The newly designed Urbana Elementary will have a capacity of 725 students and is slated to be about 98,000 square feet.
