CAVA, a Washington, D.C.-based Mediterranean fast-casual restaurant, opened Friday near Francis Scott Key Mall.

The Frederick restaurant is one of the first locations to roll out its Pickup by Car model where customers can order on the CAVA app or at order.cava.com and pick up their order at a drive-thru window.

The restaurant is 2,166 square feet and features 36 seats for dine-in patrons, an outdoor patio and a designated pickup zone inside the restaurant for orders placed online.

In addition to signature menu items such as spicy lamb meatballs and cauliflower quinoa tabbouleh, CAVA will offer summer specials such as a medley of roasted vegetables, spicy lentil soup and a spicy lime tahini dressing.

The restaurant donated a portion of its opening day sales to City Blossoms, an organization in Washington that fosters healthy communities by developing creative, kid-friendly green spaces.

Donation to a LOCAL charity may have bought more "good will".
