This is your formal invitation to the Animal Shelter’s annual open house. On Saturday, the Frederick County Division of Animal Control and Pet Adoption Center (FCAC) will be open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. In addition to our normal shelter routine, we will have representatives from animal rescue organizations, such as Barn Buddies and Friends for Life.
Frederick Friends of Our County Animal Shelter (FFOCAS), the shelter’s auxiliary group, will be on hand to discuss the important work they do to support FCAC. WFRE’s Tom Whalen will be at the shelter from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. broadcasting live. For the young people in your family (and young at heart) there will be a moon bounce. For your canine or feline family members, we will be able to microchip your pet upon request — $20, includes implanting and registering the chip. As always, we will offer our traditional raffles for gift baskets. And if all that isn’t enough, we will have food and snacks available for everyone to enjoy.
For those of you who may be reluctant to visit the shelter, the open house offers you an alternative look at our facility. It reflects the community effort among a variety of outlets to help homeless animals. We encourage you to see firsthand the commitment we witness on a regular basis from the citizens and animal welfare organizations in Frederick County to the pets in our community.
From our shelter animals’ perspective, our open house is another day to be seen by potential adopters. Wiggle and Lilly are two of our longer-term residents that have been patiently waiting on our adoption floor. It is our hope that for them, our open house turns into a forever home.
Call 301-600-1546 for more details. Open house is always a lot of fun and we look forward to seeing you on Saturday.
