The Brunswick City Council voted unanimously to take the next step in expanding the city’s sports complex.

The expansion would include two new softball fields and a practice football field for the complex, which is on the east side of town. There would also be dugouts for the two softball fields, as well as a possible second entrance on 13th Avenue, a new parking lot and a 13th Avenue extension, according to a work order request from Clark, Azar and Associates.

The council approved a $43,000 contract with the company for its engineering services, which include a field study, stormwater management concept and permit, and other permits required for the project.

Once the company completes its engineering services, the project will go out to bid, City Administrator David Dunn said at the council meeting Tuesday.

The council approved the work order without any discussion.
