Firefighter hockey teams playing charity
game for Muscular Dystrophy Association
A local hockey team made up of Frederick County firefighters will play in a charity game Saturday afternoon to raise funds for the nonprofit Muscular Dystrophy Association.
The Frederick Fire will take on the Anne Arundel County Fire Department’s team, the Pickheads, at 5:10 p.m. Saturday at the Skate Frederick Ice Sports Complex on Riverbend Way, according to a team flyer. Admission is $10 — free for children ages 12 and under — and the event will also feature a merchandise sale, a 50/50 raffle and a wristband presale for the Clover Clash, another MDA fundraiser to be hosted all day Sunday by the Career Firefighters Association of Frederick County, Local 3666.
Wristbands purchased for $10 at the presale grant all-day entry to both the Blue Side Tavern at 6 S. Bentz St. and Bushwaller’s at 209 N. Market St. Both bars will offer St. Patrick’s Day-themed drink specials and events on Sunday to benefit the MDA, according to the flyer.
All proceeds from Saturday’s game will also go directly to the MDA, a Chicago-based nonprofit that primarily raises money to support research into treatment options and potential cures for muscular dystrophy, a debilitating neuromuscular disease.
