The State Highway Administration will close a ramp from Interstate 270 to Md. 85 for a month starting on Monday as part of an interchange project for the two highways.

The ramp from southbound I-270 to northbound Md. 85 will be closed Monday night, according to a news release from the highway agency.

Drivers on Interstate 70 and U.S. 15 will be told to use eastbound I-70 and exit at Md. 85 through the use of message signs, barrels, and temporary signs.

The ramp closing is part of a $58 million project to replace two structurally deficient bridges at the interchange.

The closing will let crews match ramp pavement elevations with the interchange. Once that work is done, crews will begin shifting traffic to the new bridge on I-270 over Md. 85.

The interchange is used by more than 115,000 drivers per day.
