A section of Md. 180 near Jefferson has been reopened after being closed because of a washout during heavy rain earlier this month.
The State Highway Administration announced the reopening of the section of Jefferson Pike between Md. 79 and Md. 17 in a release on Thursday.
The road was initially projected to be closed for up to two months when it was closed after the May 16 washout.
The estimated $300,000 project to reopen it included the contractor, PDI Sheetz Construction, of Linthicum, included repairing washed-out roadside slopes, installing rocks to stabilize the area, rebuilding the approaches to the bridge over Little Catoctin Creek, and paving and restriping the road at the damaged area.
The bridge itself was not affected by the storm, SHA said.
