Annapolis - U.S. Marine veteran David E. Vogt III today announced his withdrawal from the Republican primary in the 6th congressional district.

Vogt has been campaigning since June for the seat currently held by U.S. Rep. John Delaney (D).

In the press release announcing his departure from the race, Vogt indicated he'd made his decision "after spending much time discussing with friends, family and supporters."

He also expressed support for Dan Bongino, another Republican running in the 6th district.

Vogt indicated he is thinking about running in a local race in 2014.

And 4 people in the world announce they care.

Translation: "The Bongino boys told me that I had no future in the party if I challenged him for Congress, but they'll back me for something else if I bow out gracefully now."

Republicans in the 6th need to understand a couple of things: First, as reported in the FNP, Roscoe Bartlett didn't lose because he was gerrymandered out; he lost even within the lines of the old 6th. Roscoe was done, but the GOP had no one else available to run. Second, Roscoe did nothing of substance for the district in 20 years and, in fact, occasionally made it a laughingstock. Now the Republicans are beset by a continuing assault by Bongino, who's a terrible candidate but is squelching the chance that anyone else will emerge and take the party into the next decade. Advantage: Delaney.

"Roscoe did nothing of substance for the district in 20 years"

In Congress, Dr. Bartlett did more for chimpanzees than he ever did for his constituents.

Delaney the Democrat will beat any Repubbie that runs, this is a Democratic district now boys!

Dan Bongino = extremist carpetbagger.

"Vogt indicated he is thinking about running in a local race in 2014."

Guess he is keeping the contributions.

"If it ain't unethical, it ain't illegal".....[wink]
