LeCoast Mack “Mack”, 87, of Frederick, died Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at his home following a long-term illness. Born in South Carolina and raised in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Ulysses and Hattie Mack (Chambers). He attended Dunbar High School in Washington, D.C., and graduated from Virginia State College. He was the husband of Vernice Mack. Mack was devoted to First Missionary Baptist Church (FMBC) and served as a Trustee, Deacon and Bible study teacher. Mack belonged to several organizations, including the Fredericktonian Lodge #12 of the Masons and the Frederick Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. Mack leaves his wife of 63 years, Vernice (Winfield) Mack; daughters, Karen Mack and Kimberly (Mack) Coates; sister, Lucille (Mack) Funderburk; son-in-law, Leslie Coates III; grandsons, Brenden and Bryson Coates; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. His brother, Nathaniel Mack, preceded him in death. The family will receive friends at FMBC (6430 Jefferson Pike, Frederick) for a wake from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 10. On Tuesday, June 11, at FMBC, public viewing will begin at 10 a.m. with the funeral following at 11 a.m. The Rev. William H. Graham will officiate.
