Miriam B. “Kit” Smith, age 69, of Brunswick, MD, died Tuesday, April 25, 2017, after a brief battle with cancer.
Born on June 25, 1947, she was the daughter of the late William Roger Main Sr. and the late Miriam Olive Routzahn.
Kit was married to Charles “Butch” Smith for 52½ years. She was a loving mother to Sherri Luttrell, of Frederick, MD, and Cliff Smith, of Burkittsville, MD.
Kit was a friendly woman who put everyone at ease. She welcomed anyone and everyone to her home. Kit lit up a room when she walked in it. She loved spending time at the bay with her special friends, Robert and Elaine. She also enjoyed fishing, crabbing, boat racing, playing the slots and dancing. The beach and water were her second home. Her furry friends, especially Jack, always had a special place in her heart.
Surviving in addition to her husband and children, are her son-in-law, Nick Luttrell; and daughter-in-law, Penny Smith; grandchildren, Samuel Smith, Schuyler Smith and Cole Luttrell; and great-grandson, Wyatt Smith. Kit is also survived by her brother, Stanley Main, brother, Kenneth Main and wife, Kathy, brother, Kevin Main and wife, Terry, sister, Marsha Rhinaman and husband, Roger, sister, Jacquelyn Witzberger and husband, Larry, brother-in-law, Clifford Smith and wife, Michelle, sister-in-law, Lova Ann Smith, brother-in-law, Larry Welsh, brother-in-law, Ray Strother, and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Kit was preceded in death by her brother, William R. Main; sister, Sharon Strother; sister-in-law, Teresa Welsh; brother-in-law, Carl Smith; mother-in-law, Evelyn Smith; and father-in-law, Clifford Smith.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will begin at 7 p.m. and a Farewell Party will be held from 8 to 11 p.m. on May 12 at the Eagles Club in Brunswick, MD.
