On July 7, along with many millions of others, I watched the U.S. win the Women’s World Cup. These women are fantastic athletes. I am not usually a soccer fan, but I surely must admire their spirit and athletic ability. What I can’t understand is how or why they were snubbed by their own government. All Americans should be ashamed.
President Macron of France was there; the game was played in France. William Alexander, king of the Netherlands, was there, to cheer his team on. I did not expect President Trump to be there, but neither was Jamie McCourt, our current ambassador, nor second at the embassy, the deputy chief of mission.
As an American, I am offended by this lack of courtesy to our own people at this level.
