Ridicule is an appropriate response to the ridiculous.

Bring on the summer follies!

Interesting, but my guns were always for hunting, not defense. Those that feel so insecure to need guns should look at the reasons for insecurity. Are they going to dangerous neighborhoods and if so is there a need. Do they live in a bad neighborhood? Are they creating problems for others? There is some need, outside of hunting, but not much.

Mr Cuff

R- is for ridicule ..
As usual with the great mines of the Left, when unable to debate a persons opinion on merit and facts they default to the only truth they know ... Saul Alinsky. His rule number 4 sums up your LTE.

Ridicule- Liberals most potent weapon.

But remember the 60's when the hippies' and radicals were singing the Beach Boys song " Student demonstration time". One on the lyrics " The pen is mightier than the sword, but no match for the gun". Don't pretend to be loving, peaceful and understanding. Your no better than anyone else. A leftist elitist.

It's called humor...

"Thee", "doth" Tom? The old English (or Amish) are coming for you!

There are about 3 letter writers you should give columns- Tom, Charles and that really religious guy. You certainly publish them often enough. Apply boys and open up the letters to folks who just have the occasional thing to say.

Awesome come back Tom. Bradley will no doubt be spitting out his cornflakes when he reads it...if only you could be a fly on the wall at his house.....
Here is some awesome news about guns and this may also cause Bradley some heartburn....but I don't care.

YES! First State In America BANS The Sale Of Semi-Automatic Rifles (DETAILS)

Maura Healey, the attorney general for the state of Massachusetts. Writing for the Boston Globe, she said:

‘Here in Massachusetts, 10,000 assault weapons were sold just in the last year — each one nearly identical to the rifle used to gun down 49 innocent people in Orlando. In the week after the Pulse nightclub massacre, sales of weapons strikingly similar to the Sig Sauer MCX used at Pulse jumped as high as 450 percent over the previous week — just in Massachusetts.’

Fed-up with the multitude of excuses from Republicans, Healey decided to take matters into her own hands. According to her letter in the Boston Globe:

‘The Massachusetts assault weapons ban mirrors the federal ban Congress allowed to expire in 2004. It prohibits the sale of specific weapons like the Colt AR-15 and AK-47 and explicitly bans “copies or duplicates” of those weapons. But gun manufacturers have taken it upon themselves to define what a “copy” or “duplicate” weapon is. They market “state compliant” copycat versions of their assault weapons to Massachusetts buyers. They sell guns without a flash suppressor or folding or telescoping stock, for example, small tweaks that do nothing to limit the lethalness of the weapon.’

But on Wednesday, Healey plans to change all that. “On Wednesday,” she writes, “we are sending a directive to all gun manufacturers and dealers that makes clear that the sale of these copycat assault weapons is illegal in Massachusetts.”

All weapons must be tested to ensure they aren’t a “copy” or “duplicate” before they are solid:

‘The directive specifically outlines two tests to determine what constitutes a “copy” or “duplicate” of a prohibited weapon. If a gun’s operating system is essentially the same as that of a banned weapon, or if the gun has components that are interchangeable with those of a banned weapon, it’s a “copy” or “duplicate,” and it is illegal.’

ACTUALY, it is definetly not liberals comming for the guns,, it is the conservatives. Liberals would want you to have all the choices available at any time

des21

Theoretically yes, in reality, of course, you know that's not true.

DickD

This is one "liberal" that is for gun control, but not registration or confiscation.

gabrielshorn2013

Other than universal background checks as a new law, what else is there? How do you enforce the new law without registration? How do you enforce registration of 350 million guns already in the hands of private citizens?

DickD

Good point, but there are ways to enforce when violations happen, otherwise you would need to go to each home and search, as there is no way to be sure all guns are registered. Even if registered, they could be stolen and used in a crime and there is no way a person with a gun should be liable for a stolen gun, from their home. What you are asking for here is illegal search and seizure.

gabrielshorn2013

I agree totally. No registration fees, and no mandatory registration. My point was how would you enforce mandatory registration? I doubt there would be much in the way of compliance either.

threecents

Ideally, they would be registered the same way cars are registered, and you would have to take a course and a test, just like is done with cars. They don't necessarily have to make it retroactive to cover guns already sold. Registration would help trace guns used in crimes and provide valuable information on how guns get to criminals. Also, it would help law enforcement know who has guns, including people with mental issues and suspected terrorists. It would be a tool in the crime fighting toolbox, something a real law and order politician should support.
