This morning, I am moved to write a request to all citizens who may read this letter. Please STOP donating to candidates, affiliated political parties, both Democratic and Republican, and especially anyone with two lips saying they are running for office.
First, all this money, millions (perhaps billions) of dollars are being used for campaigning, advertising and political whitewash when money is really needed right here in our state, in our county, in our towns to feed the hungry, transport the sick, house the homeless, educate our children, take care of our animals and pets. None of that happens when our dollars go to candidates, campaigns, PACS and political party headquarters.
Doesn’t it make you angry to see Candidate X is spending $100 million, Candidate Y has raised $40 million, Candidate Z $60 million and you know it is not going to any good deed, but only to see their faces, hear their slurs and promises, and give more fodder to the talking heads on television and radio? I have voted in every election since I was eligible to vote at 21 years old. I usually vote for the candidates I think will do the best job based on their resume. Isn’t that how employers choose their new hires? The only way to put an end to this merry-go-round of waste is to stop contributing to it.
Join me by pledging that political donation to your favorite local charities. That money will be utilized here and provide instant gratification to those who really need the money.
