I read with disgust that front-page coverage of the Legislature’s non-action of renewal of Nick Diaz’s reappointment (“Frederick Community College trustee’s appointment held up,” Monday’s edition). Petty politics once again takes precedence.
The thought of Blaine Young being appointed to any office brings on nausea for me. He has had front-page coverage in The Frederick News-Post for his antics over the last several years. I was so happy to see him voted out of office by the citizens of Frederick county. Young was a parent bully at kids’ sports competitions, a man of questionable honesty and a less than stellar moral code.
I would encourage the governor to reappoint Diaz, a man who has selflessly given of his time and talent to the Board of Education, FCC and other groups with which he is affiliated, and ignore the petty barbs of politicians, for whom the American public has less and less respect.
