I would like to thank the staff of The Frederick News-Post, and in particular Allen Etzler, for their professionalism. Recently several comments of mine were deleted from the comment section of The News-Post that I felt did not violate the outlined standards. Mr. Etzler politely, efficiently and professionally addressed my concerns.

Tempers are flaring in this country. There are deep, ideological divisions fueling anger. Folks on each side of the spectrum have the legitimate right to have their beliefs honored and heard. Middle ground must be sought. Open, honest, civil and intellectually sound dialogue is critically needed. Thanks to The News-Post for providing a forum, and let us hope all participants respect the privilege.

Jim, please read Kathleen's plea to Republicans, then ask yourself, is it worth supporting Trump to get the Supreme Court you want.

"Folks on each side of the spectrum have the legitimate right to have their beliefs honored and heard." Thank you. I believe that our traditional Judeo-Christian based society is being destroyed by those who do not share a common European based culture. I thank you for honoring and hearing my racist views.

Mr. Etzler was very professional. He informed me that the comment section and its policy was being reviewed. Unfortunately the handling of the comments in Mr. Covert's column yesterday highlights the need for change. By far the best method of communicating thoughts is a Letter to the editor. That is the most credible forum and the most widely read. In this upcoming election year, where open dialogue is critically needed, it would be my hope that the FNP would seek to guard its letter writers from repetitive, negative, personal attacks by anonymous posters so common presently. I know of more than one writer that has been turned off by the comments. Genuine, thoughtful, civil comments add to the dialogue. Repetitive, negative rants do not.

Look in the mirror, Jim.

Haven't you heard Dick? It's a brand new world on these boards.

Don't read the comments after your letter. You can't control them. Deb Wasserbach
