Your survey on hydraulic fracturing is deserving of one uncomplicated answer. A complete ban should be enacted on fracking in Frederick County.

The reasons are basic: contamination of well water, and local streams and rivers, the disruption of the community with endless trucks carrying toxic chemicals, and round the clock noise pollution.

You cannot discount the related health problems associated with the release of methane and other toxic chemicals including asthma, nausea, and an ultimate cancer risk.

Regulations will not help to supersede these resulting conditions or health effects of fracking. The die is cast, hydraulic fracturing is dangerous, and the resulting problems are irreversible.

Stupid letter this is. So many different types of hrdraulic fracking, and this letter doesn't specify. And people responded with comments and they don't know what theyre commenting about

Not in Frederick County, for sure, not in Maryland either.

Butch Caldwell Jr

We won't want fracking here. Read about what scientists have learned about how fracking contaminates water and air.

The gas will keep. Save it for a bolder and more informed generation. They will need it.

Gail, you are absolutely right.[thumbup]

I agree it is dangerous. My question is whether it is more dangerous than the likely alternatives.

Dwasserba

It's also gross and ugly and we don't need the industry for the economic reasons other places have embraced it.

That depends on the skill, knowledge and resources of the frackers and the continuing monitoring of the wells after they are put to use. It can be safe. But many lapses can make it a problem.
