I agree with Mayor Michael O’Connor that the new logo for Frederick city should be “let go.”

As an illustrator/designer, I feel that the new logo is a weak design and did not truly represent the city of Frederick.

I suggest an open invitation to local designers/artists to submit a new logo design to the community.

The Frederick News-Post could feature the new logo design and put it to a vote.

There would be prize of a small monetary award and the recognition to the winning designer.

If you aren't a City of Frederick resident, your opinion on a City issue should not be taken into consideration. We City residents don't have any input on decisions made for the residents of Middletown (or Brunswick, or Thurmont, etc.). You take care of your town and we will take care of ours.

Sounded like Patricia was trying to be helpful. Maybe she shouldn't have been but her idea was reasonable. Why so harsh on her?

What is harsh about garden's post?

DickD

If you have to ask, you would never understand, Rb.

"There would be prize of a small monetary award and the recognition to the winning designer." Just like how other professionals offer their expertise for a Panera card and a photo op.

The City screwed this up so badly I suspect they are going to drop the whole idea of a new logo. They'd like everyone to forget the whole botched exercise. Their fatal error was departing from the 'clustered spires' as the theme. The consultant North Star noted in their report that the City did NOT want the 'spires' as the theme. So while North Star deserves ridicule for the weird, ugly headscratcher of the 'f'-logo it was the City that bears primary responsibility for the fiasco. Having made this much of a mess at the first try I think they'd be wise to drop the whole thing.

I think the vote should be at city hall. Maybe have a ballot to have sent in with the water bill. I don't think it should be an online poll. It should be up to the city residents. Not everyone that reads the FNP

DickD

Agreed, but when someone is trying to be helpful, why be mean to them?

rbtdt5

??? What did I type that you took as mean?

DickD

Your previous comment, Rb. Don't pretend to not understand.

rbtdt5

You are truly delusional.

I posted the same suggestion (without the prize money). FNP, how about it? Mayor? Aldermen?
