I would like to send my special thank-you to the plow truck driver who takes care of Hamburg Road.

I have lived in the Wolfsville area for the past 10-plus years. I travel Hamburg Road every day to work. For the past few years, I have never seen the road so taken care of during a winter storm. It is so refreshing to know that I can take this shortcut without having to worry about my safety during a winter event. It takes a special driver to be able to maneuver up and down this narrow, dangerous road. I’m sure a lot of other citizens appreciate this also. Thank you.

First of all -- you take Hamburg as a shortcut in the snow?! Do you drive a snowmobile? [wink]

Just kidding, but that is a tricky road -- I'll bet you don't see many other vehicles.

I've lived on a road close to Hamburg for 35 years and I've also been impressed with the speed and quality of snow removal. The FredCo Office of Highway Operations has never failed to impress my wife and I.

The absolute longest I recall waiting for the road to be cleared was maybe 24 hours -- and that was after a huge "nor'easter" storm that dumped almost 3 feet of snow. For perspective -- there were entire neighborhoods in MoCo that did not get plowed for 1-2 weeks, if ever!

Typically, we see the truck go by once or twice during the storm, and then immediately after it stops snowing.

They do a great job!
