That is the first thing to understand about Donald J. Trump. He does not love you, or me, or especially our country. If he accuses people in Congress of hating our country, this is what he means: “I’m fuming because someone in Congress said they’re going to be my worst nightmare.” Not the country’s nightmare, but his and, to him, that means the USA’s. In reality, nothing could be further from the truth. These people in Congress love our country. I’m not so sure about Mitch McConnell, although I think he once loved it.

Oh, am I rambling? It’s my homage to Donald J. Trump. If you are a stalwart follower of him, if you plan to vote for his re-election, you have absolutely no idea what is going on. If you think our economy is good, you are not looking at our $22 trillion in national debt or the $1 trillion Mnuchin tells us we need to counteract our budget deficit for the second year in a row — to pay for the shortfall created by our wonderful tax cuts. If you think we taxpayers will avoid paying for that $1 trillion, you are not paying attention.

Pay attention. Use the reasoning and logic God gave you. Do not make excuses for Donald J. Trump or anyone in his family or administration. They are all very average people, though maybe three are beautiful. It’s very likely that you are, in fact, worth more admiration than any in the Trump family.

But I digress (again!). What I really want to clear up is why Donald J. Trump wants to be re-elected. Nope, it’s not because he loves our country, because he certainly does not. It’s because he doesn’t want to go to prison! He already has indictments against him that could send him to the pokey unless he stays in office another four years, after which their statutes of limitations will have expired. If he doesn’t get re-elected, well ...

So, he doesn’t love us. We do know he wants to see his name on buildings. We know he likes money, but he doesn’t particularly want his own money, because he will lose it, but he does want other people’s money. And now he has yours and mine.

I almost forgot: Donald J. Trump has not been anointed by God. He has been anointed by you, Trump supporter. He is watched like a hawk by God, who is trying to talk to you. You’d better listen.

No matter who is elected to the White House, Congress, Governorship and Mayors, balancing the budget should be law.

FCPS-Principal

Why?

public-redux

I imagine different gods say different things.

BunnyLou

Pathetic LTE, but not unexpected from the typical ill-informed, low information, CNN, MSNBC watching democrat voter.

smassaros

Oops - I’m not a Democrat. I’m s patriot.

DickD

Excellent LTE, Sheryl, ignore the Trump supporters they are supporting a crook and know it.[thumbup]

jerseygrl42

Oh Sheryl, are you looking for love....and where were you when obama was doubling our debt from $10 to $20 trillion...guess you only read the funny papers that day

smassaros

No, dear. I have all the love I need. Obama sure did raise the debt, over 8 years and to keep us out of depression.

MD1756

Whether you like Trump or not, this is just another piece in the FNP (in this case LTE) that is a waste of paper, ink and electrons. I think the same could be said for many (in my opinion, most) politicians. Come on FNP, aren't there better letters to print?

Dwasserba

It showed effort. It was too long for the "don't bore me with facts" reader. I agree that "to stay out of prison" would be an excellent reason to be highly motivated to campaign again. I hadn't thought of that. So inspiring. Quick, somone, compose a suitable ballad.

DickD

Let Aw write the words and as will get someone write the music. Something that includes all of Trump's lies, the Mueller report and Trump's statement when he found out it was Mueller and of course locking up children at the border. We could go down to 1500 Pennsylvania Ave and sing it to Trump. .But he would be off playing golf.

rikkitikkitavvi

"He is watched like a hawk by God, who is trying to talk to you. You’d better listen." Trump supporters are listening. It is the we hate Trumpers that are not. God chooses men perfect for the job. Trump fit the bell just in the nick of time had "she" been elected we would be in a shooting war and Russia would have a LOT more Uranium. Get your head on straight young lady and stop listening to the Soros funded media. Trump will win in a 2020 landslide because it is meant to be and it shall come to pass.

Dwasserba

We're all "watched." Every hair is numbered. Not news. Debatable whether we're supposed to threaten each other with it.

smassaros

I’m not young, my head is on straight, I’m a patriot, I’m not a Democrat.

Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is a better basis for a system of government than listening to disembodied voices.

sfhaydel

So if God puts the right person in the right job, that means that you were a full supporter of Barak Obama. Something tells me that that is not true which makes you a hypocrite if that is not true.

DickD

Good LTE Sheryl. I agree completely.

thump1202

No Sheryl, these people in Congress DO NOT love our country, or they would pass legislation that gave most people a hand up and deal with things like immigration and healthcare cooperatively instead of beating the political rhetoric to death every couple years and fund raising for the next election. Trump is out for Trump and everyone knows that. The idea that a politician actually cares about you is total nonsense by itself, politicians care about power. You ought to be ashamed of yourself for pushing such divisive political agenda.

phydeaux994

The Democratic House of Representatives HAS passed a lot of Legislation since January 3, 2019, including two Bills that would address Russian interference in our Elections. They are sitting in a pile at the door of the “Grim Reaper”, Moscow Mitch’s Office waiting for them to be taken to the shredder.

thump1202

There's no shortage of tabled legislation dealing with important issues that will never see the light of day. Congress absolutely hates voting because that creates a record that can harm them down the road as we're seeing Biden get it for being a fairly moderate Democrat with four decades behind him. Many running for president have no record or a short one full of abstains like Obama did if they're in Congress. The only legislation they all agree on is written by their lobbyests and passes very quietly, not that finding news that isn't about whatever stupid thing Trump said is easy these days. He's got to be the biggest smoke screen the federal government has ever seen in blacking out journalism, the media just can't resist him.

phydeaux994

This isn’t tabled Legislation thump, this is Legislation that has been debated, voted on, passed by the House, and sent to the Senate for approval. Moscow Mitch won’t let it be brought to the floor of the Senate, just like he stonewalled Obama for six years.

smassaros

You are right - Trump is a gift to media. If they were truly responsible media, they would ignore him on video and audio.

smassaros

Trump is the only politician I have ever heard (and I’m old) say during his election campaign, “We love you.” His wife said it, his children said it. It is a terrible manipulative practice to make populations believe the speaker is close to them. Ashamed? Of course not.

thump1202

I agree with you on that, Trump won on stoking national pride in a society that has strongly pushed the opposite since the turn of the century. His speech is really repetitive if you listen to it and has a lot of manipulative elements. This isn't unusual though, Bill Clinton was great at giving people a sense of connection too. It seems like the best liars make the best politicians and that's really all the national stage has to offer.

smassaros

I agree. But I live in hope.

Blueline

If Trump doesn't like the US because he ran the deficit up by $2T, what did Obama think of the US by running it up $10T?

DickD

He thought he had to save the nation, after the Republican party Great Recession. So glad you asked.

rikkitikkitavvi

He did a terrible job on all fronts Dik. He will be known in the history books as the Divider and Chief. Unless of course the liberals write the book. Then he will be known as the savior of mankind.

DickD

Divider in chief for Obama? He does not have a chance after Trump!

hayduke2

Well, blueline - "One important difference between Trump's debt figures and Obama's is that Trump has added a massive amount of debt while the US economy has been strong, whereas Obama took over during the depths of the financial crisis."

Source - Business Insider THAT is the major difference but you go ahead and try to spin it.

DickD

He was thinking, thank God I am here after Bush to clean up the mess and save the U.S.

FCPS-Principal

Your numbers are reversed. You pasted wrong.

User1

Sorry Sheryl, his job isn’t to love you, it’s to MAGA! Funny how FNP refused to print my pro Trump letter but this ranting gets thru. Did you cry when Obummer raised the debt by over $7 Trillion? Did you cry when the Dimocrats refused to deal on the last budget or when they just recently sent in a “continuing resolution” for the next two years? And please tell me...what happened to the $15 BILLION that Milkdudd Cummings’s district got just last year? Probable part of that went to his crooked wife!

marinick1

[thumbup]

hayduke2

But he does love the dictators from North Korea and Russia. He said so in his own words.

Dwasserba

You can ask the editor(s) why your letter wasn't printed. It could be helpful when you write again. There are space limitations. Did it exceed the word limit? Was it redundant? Was it boring? A newspaper is privately owned. They get to pick. This letter is like a dog whistle for comments. I know I tried to resist but my back leg started thumping.

smassaros

For the record, I could care less whether a politicians loves or hates any of us, especially me. But when I saw those supporters at the Trump rally in Greensboro - and all other rallies - you can’t tell me those believers are not looking for love.

hayduke2

See User - your problem is that you argue using lies - show me where Cumming's district received 15 billion dollars. You ought to actually try confirming your information and thinking for yourself.

hayduke2

Over the last five years, Baltimore has received $903 million in federal grants for operating and capital expenses, according to city budget documents. Over the same period, the federal government also provided $1.1 billion to the Housing Authority of Baltimore City, according to USASpending.gov.

Cummings’ more expansive congressional district received just under $15.7 billion in grants, benefits and contracts from the federal government during the past two fiscal years, according to the federal government website. That includes Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security payments and defense contracts. The district includes parts of the city of Baltimore, as well as areas of the counties of Baltimore and Howard.

phydeaux994

Do you know what the difference is between Democrats and Republicans User1? Democrats only Lie part of the time!

Samanthapowers

where did that debt come from, user? could it be the costly conflicts bush and his war criminal team dragged us into? get real

smassaros

Not looking for his love (ew...) but it appears many of his true believers are. And he does tell them he loves them. I’m not what I’m guessing you refer to as a snowflake so, no, I’ve not shed a tear over anything so far. My LTE was not to mourn my disappointment over the realization that DJT doesn’t give a hoot - it was to jolt some of his followers out of their blind adoration. I’m amazed some of today’s readers actually thought I was upset over a politician being heartless. No, it’s not me I’m worried about. Again I state: I am old, I am not a Democrat, I’m not ashamed of anything except the reality that DJT is representing our country. Sad. Just sad.
