Last month, my family joined with neighbors on the Golden Mile and picked up trash.

It wasn’t glamorous work; it was the humble work that people perform when they truly value their community.

The emerging local organizations Nuevas Ideas Frederick MD and the RISE Coalition brought together dozens of residents to work block by block, cleaning up “La Cuarenta” — the wonderfully diverse neighborhoods along U.S. 40. Watching the crowd work together and chat in multiple languages, I felt very proud to represent our city.

I’ll be there for the next cleanup this Sunday, Nov. 10, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside Frederick Towne Mall. ¡Mejor juntos!

I do wish this were like some places that allow corrections for a short time. I did think I wrote "trash" below.

Thank you Ben! We can all do our part and remember that much rash if from people passing through and not locals. One can either help solve the problem or blame others.

Try this, Sue: "If people don't litter in the first place, you wouldn't have this project." Inherent in your statement is that neighborhoods that are not diverse are not littered. Your agenda is showing...

It’s nice you are doing that Ben but make the property owners responsible to
