Having moved from Frederick years ago, it is always interesting when I see my hometown mentioned in any national context. Most recently, it was Sheriff Chuck Jenkins in an immigration commercial sponsored by Federation for American Immigration Reform.

After watching Maryland move further to the left for many years, it is good to know there are still people remaining to make liberals’ heads explode.

Sheriff Jenkins does an excellent job. He shows great leadership and generally works fairly and works well with people in this community of every political persuasion. He has strong views on immigration, but the County's 287G program complies with the law in every respect. I know he has been a popular target for criticism, but he is A-OK in my book. We are fortunate to have him in office.

Well said!

Amen to that and The Sheriff is doing his best to uphold the laws of the land while many lefties demonstrate and riot for open borders and a lawless country

yes, the position of sheriff is considered "political" because they are elected. However, law enforcement should NOT be party affiliated. And that's exactly why Jenkins is viewed as incompetent.

It's highly regrettable that a local sheriff can be categorized as either liberal or conservative. But I suppose I've just been living in some parallel solar system.

It is a political office.

I'm not an immigrant my family goes back 10 generations in Maryland my ancestors helped build Maryland and I helped defend her and I don't believe I could live in Frederick County without the assistance of state and federal law enforcement.

Now we might have a reason why so many outside law enforcement is needed in Myersville around a black military families home eventhiugh there are several County deputies living within a stones throw to the black family.

DisabledFrederickVeteran

The founder of Federation for American Immigration Reform was John Tanton a defender of the KKK.

The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) is a group with one mission: to severely limit immigration into the United States. Legal as well as illegal.

Dan, so glad you moved to Michigan.

Really, every person should have their own list of what they want in a candidate. It IS your vote. But this is a surprise.

I found it odd with several deputies living with a stones throw of a black military family in rural Myersville the apparent need for a constant stream of unmarked state and federal law enforcement vehicles. You would think with a few deputies living in close proximity to a black family that local extremist would temper their behaviors? The Sheriff isn't responsible for changing hearts and minds of extremist but he should foster a department that serves protects the entire community not just segments. Fortunately we now have someone at DOJ now who's personally familiar with the Myersville event in Frederick County, MD.

DickD

DFV, please explain what you are commenting about in Myersville.

The minister of our church in Myersville has talked about hate directed toward bi racial families in Myersville.

As a card carrying liberal I have no big problems with Jenkins when he stays out of politics and does his job, which is county law enforcement.

nbouqu1

When does he do that?

threecents

Certainly not when he is on a Michigan "immigration commercial sponsored by Federation for American Immigration Reform." Ow, my head just exploded.

DickD

His deputies do a good job.

I am sure they do, but not always: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frederick_County_Sheriff%27s_Office_(Maryland)#Misconduct_by_officers
