Americans without health insurance edged up in 2018. The richest 5% of the U.S. population captured 23% of household income.

I think that the American dream is in serious jeopardy presently, but I think my children’s dreams and hopes are in worse shape, and our grandchildren really will not have near what we have in our society today.

Every American citizen should have health care. Get sick and you are covered. -Every one of us should have employment that sustains life.

This means a decent apartment, a vehicle to get to work, and food on the table. This is possible if health care is covered by being a citizen because without it a family can be ruined.

I really do not see Americans, all of us, rich and poor, getting ahead. The stock market is not a positive economic indicator for the bottom 90%.

Examples developing in the last few days: Health insurance is the start, still a national problem. All entities should have to pay their fair share of taxes, especially in places where the money is.

China is now buying, as of the news this day, soybeans from Argentina and Brazil. Why?

Have the coal miners made and improvements in their future? Show me where.

Hasn’t U.S Steel laid off workers?

Money for military children’s schools is being taken away and used to build a wall.

In some jurisdictions children can’t get lunch because they have no money,

Murder is rampant and Congress hasn’t passed red flag laws or background legislation. Where is the concern for the American people in Congress. No, Americans as a whole are not doing better.

The wealthy are hogging all the profits. What happens when the poor and lowly wage earners are no longer existent?Why can’t workers have health care, good salaries, pensions, vacations etc like the top 10 percent.

You don’t mention earnings (wealth). What is the top 1% wealth versus the bottom 90%? And yon left out the top 5% wealth and how much they pay in taxes. Plus how does the top 1% maintain their wealth advantage over the bottom 90% of the population.

Example: I make 1 million a year and pay 350 thousand in taxes verses making 50 thousand a year and paying 12 thousand in taxes. Who’s life style is more effected?

Sorry, but the coal industry is failing because cleaning up the mess coal leaves has priced it out of the market. I used to work in the electric utility industry and we used coal - the dirtiest, filthiest, black lung producer ever. Without cleaning up the filth, you and many others would be breathing through a respirator. Trump can't save the coal industry and never could - he just made empty promises, as he always does, to get votes. The solution for coal workers is the same solution the rest of us have to face when our jobs disappear for whatever reason - quit whining and find something else.

The fact is that we can do better and if we move to automation and robots to produce our wealth, we must do better. Medicare for all is a nice slogan, but hard to pay for. I a compromise solution (such as FEHB for all who need it) wi be affordable and solve many problems. As for workers, we will have many who are not trained to do the new work or too old to work. A tax on automation and robots to take some of the wealth they produce and send it to those who need training or even retirement will help. We can do that. There is no need to dig in heels and refight the battles of liberals and conservatives. Just figure out what works and do it. Or try things to see what works.

Our deductibles went from $200 to $1200 under Obama. I lost my cardiologist because of it. My wife and I lost our jobs two years ago because she turned 70. They started hitting us on work product at ezStorage Frederick. Check our google maps reviews from way back. They worked around the age thing. They are systematic with that. They want the youngsters, "I am a robot" types. We did the same work the same way for eleven years no change and all was well, until her 70th b-day. Then they started hitting us on a single dead bug in a window sill in a six floor building. Lots of windows but ONE freaking dead bug on ONE freaking window sill took us down three points on our property evals. It would have been ok if it hadn't died three minutes before the district manager saw it. also hit us on a dusty fire extinguisher in the breakroom. Never had they done that before.



Now we have no insurance. We go to Mission of Mercy in Gettysburg for our meds and whatever else they can provide. Anything else or anything major we just die since we are living on her social security and my part-time jobs wages. Too long for you to read? Then don't.

Dear phydo, I just turned 58 on the 4th. Not old enough. Can't save for retirement when you work paycheck to paycheck. I was Resident Manager they gave us an apartment. They considered it a $1200 apartment because of the area. Grove Road. After 12 years of employment we were making just over $12.00. Everything in Frederick is expensive.

I rarely went to the Dr. when I had ins. Maybe once a year. Then my heart attacked me. Twice. I was forced to go. It wasn't by choice. I don't "over consume health care" as you so blithely state. If I could do without I would. Oh wait except for heart meds. I am. Socialist my foot. Do two hip replacements due to arthritis that started in 2003 and neither done until 2012 and 2014 count as "over-consuming health care"? I was walking like Frankenstein because I was too tough to go to the Doctor and get them done in time and they both fused together. Painful? You betcha! and that screwed up my back! I refuse to take pain pills so I live with it on a daily basis while I work my part-time job with no insurance. Have a MAGA day pub!

Which plan pub? The one where I joined the Navy after High school but they let me out on hardship because my mom was ill. Or the one where I went to trade school for printing tech and stayed in that industry until my mom died then bought an RV and got married and travelled the country for five years trying to find "something". Or the plan when I sold my house and bought a fifth wheel for another journey cross country. Maybe the one where I worked as a bartender in a very "dark" part of St. Pete Fl being threatened most nights because I cut people off. because the print shop that the wife worked in (at the same time)as a typesetter wouldn't hire family members for whatever reason. Perhaps you mean the one where I worked at pennysaver in Hanover Md but gas was eating my paycheck (and half of hers) while the wife worked in Laural, even further away from loch raven where we lived in her cousins upstairs bedroom. Then we get to ezstorage in Frederick. I thought I'd retire from there but the wife just happened to get older than they wanted their workers to be.
