Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion; here’s mine: I support Sheriff Jenkins because he supports and enforces law and order. He is compassionate and understanding. He goes out of his way to respond people’s unique needs. He did that for my family; for example, he helped ensure my mixed-race disabled daughter was afforded all special accommodation for her actions which arose out of her disability. I cannot speak for anyone else’s purported encounters with Sheriff Jenkins or his Deputies. Any adverse issues that may have arisen therefrom should be settled in accordance with recognized and established procedures. Thank you, Sheriff, for all you do.

Wish the sheriff would spend time training the deputies. I know a family that had their lives turned upside down because a deputy didn’t do his job. Need more training in investigations. My daughter was left on the side of the road in the middle of no where with a car that did not work.

Let’s clean up FCpS so I dont have to pay for private school. Take one step in Monocacy and ICE would be there in a day.

He is a politically savvy politician who will base his decisions on electability. He does not impress me as being particularly empathetic unless it will serve his purpose.

rcfoster

How dare he enforce the laws and cooperate with the Federal government in their law enforcement. The parents put the kids in this position not law enforcement.

I think a good case can be made to blame anyone and everyone. It took many people to create the mess we have, but most families that came here only came because they were desperate.

It is good that Jenkins shows some empathy, it happens so little, it makes the news when he does. He should be willing to show his empathy for the thousands of children in cages and legally seeking Asylum. Most of the time we see the real Jenkins as a bully and a racist sheriff.

Samanthapowers

and one that costs taxpayers a lot of money due to the lawsuits, etc. your last sentence summarizes him perfectly.

mr_twist27

I think a majority of Frederick residents support the Sheriff and his policies. You cant tell though because the FNP has an obvious bias against him.

Samanthapowers

If the majority of residents support him, he would have won that election in a landslide. instead he managed a 3% win. hardly a ringing endorsement.

sdm817

How many elections has he won in a row? Remarkable.

FrederickCity1983

A majority of residents did support him, that's exactly how he won. Ma·jor·i·ty /məˈjôrədē,məˈjärədē/ noun 1. the greater number. Yep, that's how he won.

Wish he'd stay in Frederick County rather than running down the road for photo ops with Trump.

FrederickCity1983

You criticize him because he sees the big picture of how illegal aliens impact Frederick County.????

Drive around the County and visit some worksites on these hot days and you’ll see how illegal aliens impact Frederick County.

gabrielshorn2013

And that’s ok phy? If , as you previously posted, that it should be illegal to hire undocumented aliens, shouldn’t ICE be raiding those employers, and deporting the employees?

phydeaux994

Where did I say I approved of illegal aliens working around the County, I just say that many are hired illegally and no one cares. This has been the case since the Border was closed in 1929. Our Southern Border has never been closed and never will be. Americans need these workers and many more. But the Republicans will never allow Comprehensive Immigration Reform, they like the cheap labor. Ask any small contractor in FC if that isn’t true. You’ll find a bunch at the Home Depot every workday. But thanks for caring gab.

gabrielshorn2013

Please reread my comment phy. I asked, based on your previous posts, if those employers should be raided. Both the owners and employees would be arrested and charged.

What school are you in? I’d like to let everyone in that district know what a moron runs the school. Please don’t share your political views with students. You may get laughed at by a 7 yr old with more common sense than you.

Sheriff Chuck Jenkins and his dept. continue to show great professionalism and community pride! Frederick county is a safer place because of Sheriff Jenkins and his team!

Samanthapowers

that credit goes to the Frederick Police. They are the boots on the ground that make a real difference.

sdm817

What if you do not live in the city? What credit are you referring to? Frederick city is by far the most dangerous part of the county.

FrederickCity1983

Amen to that. Powers may need a lesson in government and jurisdiction.

awteam2000

The most dangerous part of the county is the city. The rate of crime is higher but the number of crimes is lower. But you want the stats?

gabrielshorn2013

Aw, huh? If the rate is higher, and the population is higher, how can the number be lower? Rate= (number of crimes) / (population)

"Any adverse issues that may have arisen therefrom should be settled in accordance with recognized and established procedures." Huh?

It's good to hear something good about Jenkins.
