The purchase offer for Frederick County's nursing and assisted living facilities is now available online.

County commissioners later this month will hold a public hearing about whether to sell Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center and Montevue Assisted Living to the Millersville-based company, Aurora Health Management. The company has offered to buy the facilities for $30 million and to retain all employees at their current salaries.

The county today posted on its webpage Aurora's original offer, its responses to a series of follow-up questions and its final offer for the facilities.

Documents are available at www.frederickcountymd.gov/ccrc-maloptions.

Would someone look at the "annual cost to taxpayers without sale" line in the financial report because it seems to me if the trend was extrapolated thru 2018 the county would realize a net gain of roughly $400,000 in 2018 and 1.2 million in 2019. Are we being penny wise and pound foolish? Does anyone else see this trend? Just curious.

If every citizen in Frederick County turned out to protest the sale of the facility, it is still highly likely that the 4 guys on the BOCC will decide to sell it. It appears their minds are made up and they are holding meetings to make it look like they care about what the voters think. This is despicable. The new owners will not take care of the indigent in this region. What is going to happen to these poor people? Are they to be set out on the curb like recycling? I want a portion of my taxes to be used to care for the old and indigent. It is my responsibility and moral duty to care for the sick and aged and poor just like it is everyone elses! What is happening makes me sick to my stomach. Jean

Well Jean, you can still donate money to the old and indigent if you choose. I perfer to decide my own morals and not have others tell me what mine should and shouldn't be. I perfer to donate my time and money and find anything the goverment gets involved with has way too much waste attached to it.
