Bus crash

No serious injuries were reported Tuesday after a crash involving a school bus.

A bus carrying about 50 students to Gov. Thomas Johnson Middle School was involved in a crash with a sedan just before 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Eleven students were taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital for evaluation. None of the students had serious injuries, said Michael Doerrer, director of communication for Frederick County Public Schools.

The crash was at Schifferstadt Boulevard and East 16th Street in Frederick. The crash occurred when the driver of the sedan ran a stop sign, Doerrer said.

Frederick County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Taylor Clarke said the driver ran the stop sign and was cited for failure to yield the right of way when making a left turn.

Students not taken to FMH for treatment were taken to Gov. Thomas Johnson Middle School on another bus. Parents of the students taken to the hospital have been notified, Doerrer said.

Doerrer did not have an update on the injured students late Tuesday afternoon. He said the school was contacting each family to find out more about the students.

hey-- so i was on the bus (13) and honestly we think everyone faked it too. also this post was incorrect, the bus pit maneuvered the chevy cruze. saw it coming from a mile away...

Thank you crc, my thoughts exactly.

Why did they take the kids to school on another bus? The accident occurred 200 yards from school!

Exactly. And this is why we’ve (society) come to rely on immigrant workers. Heaven forbid they must walk.

"against school policy" -assistant principal, we wondered the same thing

What is wrong with you people? This is a serious situation and should be taken as so. What difference does it make what the lady in the picture is wearing, and the comment about giving the kids a shot? Are you people for real? I drove a school bus for decades, and believe me, these are the last things on you're mind, when you have children in your care, and your bus has been hit. This mindset is what's wrong with society now. Not thinking priorities.

The mindset of today’s society is that many people are uptight. No deaths. No one in intensive care. With that said In my mind it was a good day. That’s how I see it. Glass 1/2 full.

What you said-Ditto me on it!

Should have told those 11 kids that they had to get a shot when they went to the hospital and I would be willing to bet all the kids would have magically not injured.

They probably see dollar signs. Where ever would they learn such behavior?

Is the bus equipped with the necessary seatbelts? Were the injured students wearing seatbelts?

And what is the lady in the picture wearing?

The real questions should be was the driver if the sedan late for work, on their phone or just not paying attention? Place the blame where it belongs.

cakgass, Kally was just being...........
Kally, again. Never to be taken seriously.
