A Frederick County man has been charged with murder in the death of his girlfriend.
Christopher Myers, 39, of Jefferson, is charged with first- and second-degree murder and first-degree assault in the death of 24-year-old Heather Williams on Wednesday, according to a news release issued Thursday by Maryland State Police.
Relatives of Williams reported her missing at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday after she did not arrive at a relative’s home as expected, according to the release.
State police investigators said her car was not at her home in the 4500 block of Jefferson Pike when a relative went to check on her. Williams was found dead inside the home, according to the release.
Myers, who lived with Williams, was arrested Wednesday by the Baltimore Police Department at about 6 p.m. after being stopped for a traffic violation. He was driving Williams’ car at the time of his arrest, according to the release.
Williams’ body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.
Myers remains at the Baltimore Detention Center after being charged with drug and traffic violations, according to the release.
The case is under investigation.
