Maryland State Police have identified the two drivers involved in a fatal crash Tuesday at U.S. 40 and Bowers Road.
At about 5:45 p.m., the driver of a white Chevrolet Malibu traveling south on Bowers Road tried to cross U.S. 40 into the eastbound lanes when a gray Acura SUV traveling west on U.S. 40 struck the Chevrolet, according to Cpl. Adam Merkelson with Maryland State Police. The driver of the Chevrolet did not stop at the stop sign on Bowers Road and pulled directly in front of the Acura, according to a news release issued Wednesday.
Police identified the driver of the Chevrolet as Jean Elizabeth Lindsey, 77, of Frederick. She was pronounced dead at the scene, Merkelson said. The driver of the Acura was identified as Tracey Lynne Pizer, 53, of Myersville, and was flown to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with serious injuries, he said.
Merkelson said no charges will be filed because authorities found Lindsey to have been at fault.
