Four Frederick County Public Schools campuses issued emails pertaining to unrelated school safety issues Tuesday, but no students or staff were harmed.
Brunswick High School issued an email after a student lit a firecracker in the cafeteria during a lunch period. Law enforcement and staff identified the student and "took appropriate action," according to the email. Students finished their lunch and returned to class.
Linganore High School, Thurmont Middle School and Middletown Middle School each received threats that required investigation. None of the schools found any threat credible, according to emails. Middletown Middle School also investigated an unfounded threat on Monday, which staff does not feel was related to Tuesday's threat, the email said.
At Thurmont Middle, a student was identified as making threats via social media over the weekend. The student cooperated with law enforcement and administration in the investigation, according to the email.
