Three people were injured in a single-car crash after a car burst into flames in Frederick early Thursday.

The crash occurred just after 2 a.m. when a 2019 Volkswagen Golf was traveling west along Elmer Derr Road. The car then ran off the road to the right, struck a drainage culvert and ended at Elmer Road, according to a news release from the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office.

The Golf burst into flames, throwing at least one of the three occupants from the car. The driver, Ryan Tydings, 26, of Frederick, was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore. His injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Jessica Crum, 23, of Frederick, and Alexander Dennie, 23, of Jefferson, were taken to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, and both were in critical but stable condition, the release stated.

Alcohol and speed are believed to be contributing factors, according to the release.

Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to call Deputy 1st Class Anthony Reggio at 301-600-7120.

#1 Elmer Derr Road is not in Frederick, it is in Frederick County, but not Frederick. #2 where is Elmer Road? I cannot find any reference to Elmer Road in Frederick County.

God bless these young people. I hope they are okay!!

Im gonna have to clear this up. I dont know how the frederick news post got my name, but i am severely unappreciative of it. I am Zander Horstman, 19 years old from woodsboro, md. Im the only one. That town is small and i know everyone there. Facts are this; i talked to shock trauma, there are 2 people there from this accident, but one is unidentified. The other is this jessica crum lady. But i am not in that hospital. Nor do i know anyone who owns a volkswagen golf. Ill be contacting fnp to get my name removed.

WOW, so you don't know either of the other two people and the FNP just randomly came up with your name? Glad you aren't hurt but this is awfully weird.

Wasnt random. The guy said his name is xander, but zander and xander sound the same. They used social media to pull up my profile and asked if it was the right person. They said yes. So the sheriffs department just went with it

Glad to hear you're ok! I could only imagine what your friends and family thought when they read the story and thought it was you.

Looks like they got it fixed. That was random!

Also; alcohol was involved? Now THERE is a surprise!

If you were 21 I'd wonder if someone had stolen/cloned your ID for drinking

I was thinking ID theft too. I mean they can't have just pulled the name, age and area out of a hat. They had to get the information somewhere.

Nope just had the wrong guy.

And.......another foul up by the FCSO......

For once, in all of your comments, you finally said something correct. Yes, the FCSO made a mistake.

Alcohol and speed will get you every time

A brand new car.......☹️

Wow! And pretty new people harmed!

Just trying to break it in.
