Frederick Community College is the top seed for the NJCAA Division II Region XX Tournament, which begins Friday at FCC.

The Cougars will play a 3 p.m. first-round game. If they win, they play a winner’s bracket final at 11 a.m. Saturday. If FCC loses, it plays an elimination-round game at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The championship game is noon Sunday.


Brunswick 5, Walkersville 4

A three-run seventh inning rallied Brunswick (8-10) past Walkersville.

The Railroaders trailed the Lions 3-2 heading into the top of the seventh when they forged ahead. A two-run single from Matt Walker and an RBI single from Dalton Cooper drove across Brunswick’s go-ahead runs.

Cooper led the Railroaders with three hits. Polesky had two hits with a double. Brady Snoots had two hits.

Trevor Barnhouse was the winning pitcher.

Jake Saylor and Brett Ahalt each had two hits for Walkersville (7-12). Jake Fraley had a double.


Catoctin 7, TJ 2

Courtney Eyler had two hits with a home run for Catoctin (18-2), which plays Urbana at 6 p.m. Tuesday for the Central Maryland Conference championship at Hood College.

Catoctin’s Madi Tobery had two hits with a double. Paige Smith had two hits.

Ashley Mayton was the winning pitcher with four strikeouts.

Haley Jaconski had two hits with a double for Thomas Johnson (11-7). Andrea Larson had a double.

Friends School 12, SJCP 10

Erika Bealmear and Rachel Johnson each had three goals for St. John’s Catholic Prep, which ends its season at 7-8. Allison Shanley had two goals. Bridget Scherer and Bridget Crowley each had one.

Angela Mason had seven saves for the Vikings.
