MEN’S BASKETBALL

Hood 82, Stevenson 67

Evan Wang scored 22 points with four assists and four steals for Hood (11-6).

Mason Wang had 14 points with nine rebounds and four assists for the Blazers. Jared Ruiz came off the bench to score 13 points with three steals. Michael Riley had 12 points.

Ian Eversull had nine points, six rebounds, two assists, four steals and two blocks.

Hood trailed 23-22 with 8:32 left in the half before Evan Wang and Ruiz scored every point in an 11-0 run for a 33-23 lead with six minutes left. The teams traded baskets for the rest of the half, and the Blazers carried a 43-34 edge at halftime behind 11 points by Wang.

A layup by Wang extended the lead to 59-44 with 15:24 left in the game before Stevenson went on a 16-2 run to pull within a point on a 3-pointer by Montaque Wright with 9:48 to go. Hood answered with buckets by Eversull and Mason Wang before a 3-point field goal from Riley to make it 68-60 three minutes later.

Marcus Dentley led all scorers with 28 points on 11-of-16 shooting.

Hood held the Mustangs to just 3-of-16 behind the arc.

The Blazers outrebounded Stevenson 34-33.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Stevenson 89, Hood 52

Mia Savoy had a game-high 24 points to go along with seven rebounds for Hood.

Ebony Pitt had 11 points. Morgan Anderson had seven rebounds and four blocks. Laura Vetter had seven rebounds and four assists.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Catoctin 63, Mountain Ridge 41

Raegan Smith had 14 points for Catoctin (5-8). Madi Tobery had 13 points with 10 rebounds and three steals. Courtney Eyler had 11 points with seven rebounds and five steals. Emma Wivell had 10 points.

Catoctin won the junior varsity game 35-22. Lily Gadra had 12 points for the Cougars.

Frederick 71, City College 55

No details of the game were provided.

BOYS BASKETBALL

SJCP 72, St. Paul’s 62

Brandon Pilgrim had 19 points for St. John’s Catholic Prep (13-4).

Brycen Hill and Ty Collins each had 17 points with eight assists. Winston Moore had 11 points with seven rebounds. Aaron White had eight rebounds.

St. Paul’s won the junior varsity game.

Unfortunately 4 of Stevenson's first and second string were out for injuries. It would have been a different ball game had more players been healthy.
