Boonsboro 43, Brunswick 28

Brunswick rallied from a 29-0 halftime deficit but fell short at the end at North Hagerstown High School, dropping to 2-1.

Quarterback Brady Snoots threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Max Bucynski in the third quarter, but the Warriors answered with a score of their own to lead 43-6 after three quarters.

Brunswick scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Layne Harich scored on a 1-yard run. With two minutes to go in the game, Devin Phillips scored on a 6-yard run. Snoots threw a 2-point conversion pass to Jaeden Spriggs. One minute later, the Railroaders scored their final touchdown, a Snoots-to-Michael Souders 14-yard touchdown pass.


Oriole Classic

Maryland School for the Deaf lost just one set on its way to winning the annual Oriole Classic.

MSD defeated King Abdullah, Shalom Christian and Northern Virginia Homeschool in pool play. The Orioles dropped the first set of a best-of-three semifinal match against Carroll Christian, but rebounded to take the next two sets to reach the championship match, where they swept Grace Academy in two sets.

Cassidy Perry had 12 kills and three blocks in the championship match. Citrine Lummer had six digs and five kills. Milana Bielucke had six digs. Sascha Tansky had nine assists. Alyssa Glennon had 11. Rajena Guettler had six kills.


Hood Invitational

Walkersville’s Megan Bertolette finished eighth in the girls run at Utica Park, crossing the finish line in 20 minutes, 40.1 seconds. Thomas Johnson’s Saoirse Conley finished 34th (22:12.6).

In the boys division, Urbana’s Jonathan Mason was 29th (17:32.3). Daveen Bavari was 46th for TJ (17:49.2). For Walkersville, Peyton Vance was 93rd (18:37.1).


Oakdale 3, Williamsport 0

Riley Daiger had one goal with one assist for host Williamsport (1-2-1, 1-0-1 CMC Gambrill). Noe Melgar and Zach Kocan each had one goal. Griffin Vinal and Cameron Simpson each had one assist.

Kurt Grzybowski recorded the shutout with two saves.

Oakdale won the junior varsity match 6-0.

Meade 1, Middletown 0

Eli Flores had five saves for Middletown (1-4) in Fort Meade.

Mountain Ridge Tournament

FROSTBURG — Brunswick (3-2) split its two matches, defeating Altoona, Pennsylvania, 2-1, but losing to host Mountain Ridge 2-1 in the early match.

Tommy Cicmanec scored the Railroaders’ winning goal, converting a free kick, with seven minutes to go in the match. Nick Brody scored Brunswick’s other goal. Scott Leazer had an assist.

Nathan McKnew scored the Railroaders’ goal against Mountain Ridge. Cicmanec had an assist.

Damian Elam had 17 saves in the tournament for Brunswick.


Army 2, MSM 0

EMMITSBURG — Bobby Edwards had one save for Mount St. Mary’s.


Hood 5, Marymount 0

Melissa Merritt had a goal with two assists for Hood. Elisa Botten, Jasmine Mangle, Madisyn Klein, and Erin Scarborough each had a goal. Cassidy O’Neill had an assist.

Rachel Knoebel had three saves for the Blazers.


Seahawk Invitational

Hood split its two matches on Saturday in the final day of the tournament.

The Blazers defeated Alvernia, 21-25, 25-23, 27-25, 25-17, but lost to host St. Mary’s, 25-20, 25-7, 25-12.

Elena Zinaich had 20 kills over the two matches. Courtney Hutchinson had 15. Payton Belella had 48 assists and 21 digs. Renee Reus had 31 digs.
