Vince Ahearn stepped down as Tuscarora High School’s varsity football coach, Titans athletic director Howie Putterman confirmed Friday.
In five seasons at the helm for the Titans, Ahearn went 27-22, including a 3-6 record during the recently completed season.
“I wish him the absolute best and hope he finds what he is looking for in his career,” Putterman said. “He’s done wonderful things for Tuscarora High School, and I am sure he will do wonderful things wherever he ends up.”
Putterman said the process to find the next coach has already begun, starting with advertising the position within the school for five days before he can start to look elsewhere.
“There is interest, but I am totally open minded,” he said.
Ahearn, who did not respond to a request for comment, led Tuscarora to one of its three playoff appearances in 2016.
Previously, he coached at Frederick High School for 17 seasons before leaving for Williamsport High School in 2013. He coached the Wildcats for two seasons before being named Tuscarora’s head coach in June of 2015.
