Lund was a double-winner, setting one meet record at Monday's Class 2A state championships at Prince George's Sports Complex & Learning Center in Landover. Lund swept the 800 (1 minute, 56.77 seconds, 2A state record) and 1,600 (4:24.39).
Jessica Buntman, Linganore, diving
Buntman won the state championship on Friday at Eppley Recreation Center at the University of Maryland. She totalled 413.10 points.
Frederick County schools won three team titles at last week's indoor track and field state championships. Oakdale (Class 2A) and Linganore (Class 3A) won boys crowns. Urbana's girls won the Class 4A state championship. County athletes won 14 individual state championships over the two days of the meet.
Oakdale's boys and Frederick's girls three-peated their respective titles at the Central Maryland Conference basketball championships on Tuesday at Hood's BB&T Arena. The Bears' boys edged Thomas Johnson 66-65. The Cadets' girls defeated Middletown 59-45.
Linganore's Fiona Rowan hit a school-record 12 3-pointers in the Lancers' 78-42 win over Thomas Johnson on Monday.
Thomas Johnson's JR Powe and Tuscarora's Trumaine Strickland each scored their 1,000th point last week. Powe hit his plateau in the CMC championship game. Strickland hit his mark in the Titans' 73-70 win over Reservoir on Friday.
Thomas Johnson's Robert Xu just missed a Class 3A-2A-1A boys 100 breaststroke state championship on Saturday by two hundredths of a second on Saturday at the swimming and diving state meet at Eppley Recreation Center. Damascus' AJ Navaleza won the event in 59.31 seconds.
