Lewis scored 38 points with eight rebounds and four assists for the Orioles in an 86-70 win over Shenandoah Valley Christian Academy on Friday.
Sophia Routzahn, Tuscarora, swimming
Routzahn enjoyed a huge day at Saturday’s Frederick County Public Schools Championships at Walkersville High School. She shattered the 100 breaststroke record with a 1:04.5, topping the mark of 1:07.82 set by Thomas Johnson’s Eliza Manning. Routzahn also broke the 19-year-old 100 freestyle record with a 53.92.
n With a win in the final event, the 400 freestyle relay, Linganore’s girls swimming team won its first Frederick County Public Schools championship in program history on Saturday at Walkersville High School. Oakdale’s boys team won its sixth straight FCPS championship. Seven meet records were set in the meet.
n Linganore’s wrestling team came oh-so-close to winning the Class 3A state duals championship on Saturday at North Point High School. The Lancers first defeated reigning champion Huntingtown in the semifinals, then lost a heart-breaking 28-27 match to Stephen Decatur in the championship match.
n Trumaine Strickland scored a game-high 27 points, helping Tuscarora’s boys basketball team snap a four-game losing streak with a 70-63 win over Linganore on Friday.
n Linganore’s Jessica Buntman repeated her FCPS diving title on Thursday at Walkersville High School. Oakdale senior Nathan Murphy, who didn’t begin diving for the Bears until last year, won the boys title.
n Linganore’s boys and Frederick’s girls indoor track and field teams won Class 3A West regional championships on Thursday at the Fifth Regiment Armory in Baltimore.
n Urbana’s girls indoor track and field team won the Class 4A Central regional championship on Wednesday at the Fifth Regiment Armory in Baltimore.
