Five county lacrosse teams clinched top seeds in the MPSSAA regional playoffs, which begin Wednesday.

Two county teams, top-seeded in different sections, could end up meeting for a regional championship on May 15.

Oakdale and Middletown’s girls (Class 2A West) own the No. 1 seeds in their respective sections. The Bears are in Section I; the Knights are in Section II.

Both have first-round byes and won’t play until Friday. Should Oakdale and Middletown prevail in their sectionals, they’ll meet for their regional championship on May 15.

In boys lacrosse, Urbana (Class 4A North, Section II) and Linganore (Class 3A West, Section II) are top seeds. Tuscarora’s girls have locked up the No. 1 seed in Class 3A West, Section II.

Boys Lacrosse

Urbana (4A North, Section II) faces the Springbrook-Montgomery Blair winner on Friday. Linganore (3A North, Section II) hosts the North Hagerstown-Frederick winner on Friday. The Cadets host the Hubs in a first-round game on Wednesday.

Tuscarora (3A North, Section II) hosts the South Hagerstown-Thomas Johnson winner on Friday. The Patriots host the Rebels on Wednesday in the first round.

Oakdale (2A West, Section I) hosts South Carroll on Friday in a sectional semifinal. In 2A West, Section II, Middletown hosts Poolesville in a sectional semifinal.

Walkersville (2A West, Section II) hosts Seneca Valley on Wednesday in the first round.

Brunswick and Catoctin (1A West, Section II) are on the road for sectional semifinals on Friday. The Railroaders travel to Boonsboro. The Cougars are at Smithsburg.

Girls Lacrosse

Oakdale (2A West, Section I) hosts the Liberty-Winters Mill winner on Friday. Middletown (2A West, Section II) awaits the Seneca Valley-Walkersville winner, which is being played Wednesday at Walkersville. The Knights face that winner on Friday.

Tuscarora (3A West, Section II) hosts the South Hagerstown-Linganore winner on Friday. The Lancer hosts the Rebels in the first round Wednesday.

Frederick (3A West, Section II) hosts the North Hagerstown-TJ winner on Friday. The Hubs host the Patriots in the first round Wednesday.

Brunswick hosts Catoctin (1A West Section II) in a sectional semifinal on Friday.

The baseball and softball regional playoff draws are Tuesday.
