Maggie Goodwin led Urbana (5-1) with four goals and one assist. Nellie O’Brien, Allison Granger, Uriah Banawoye and Kasey Beach each had one goal. Kylie Caretti had two assists for the Hawks’ Emma Purcell, Maddy Hillman, Ashlyn White and Zoe Nelson each had one assist.

Danielle McNerney and McKenna Ladson combined on the shutout with one save.

Urbana won the junior varsity game 6-0.


Tuscarora 184, Frederick 189, North Hagerstown 225

The Titans won a tri-match at Musket Ridge on Wednesday.

There were three medalists, who all shot a 44 — Tuscarora’s Connor Biedrzycki and Austin Hurley and Frederick’s Lucas Tinney.

Brunswick girls 26, Smithsburg 43, Williamsport 76

Elizabeth Willman led Brunswick, finishing second (22 minutes, 10.2 seconds). Catoctin’s Emma Strickland finished third (22:14.1), but the Cougars did not field a complete team. Other scoring runners for Brunswick were Jena Rhodes, fourth; Alana Gantley, seventh; Rebekah Shullenbarger, ninth; and Alison Laverty, 10th.

In the boys meet, Brunswick finished tied for second (53). Catoctin’s Alexander Contreras was the top county runner at the meet. He was fifth (17:42.8). Noah McGillivray finished sixth for Brunswick (19:02.3).


Hood 3, Lancaster Bible 1

Laurann Rowe, Sage Barnhart and Julia Cencetti each had a goal for Hood, which won its first game of the year. Libby Bahoric had two assists for the Blazers.

Kenzie Blair had one save for Hood.


Frederick 40, Catoctin 0: Josh Heyward scored three touchdowns for Frederick (1-1). Asiah Benson, Nakig Mojuner and Emmanuel Felix each had one.

Oakdale 20, TJ 6: Braden Kuhn, Andrew Hodges and Carson Ridgway each had a touchdown for Oakdale (1-1). Sean Kubiak kicked two extra points.


In a story on C1 Wednesday about the Frederick County Public Schools Golf Tournament, Catoctin’s top golfer was misidentified. The Cougars’ Adam Buffington shot an 84.
