Middletown went 8-0 at Poolesville to win the championship Saturday.

The Knights’ Noah Grossnickle, Zach Brady and Kyle Malko each went 8-0 for the Knights. Landen Harbaugh was named Most Outstanding lightweight at the tournament.

The Knights defeated Huntingtown, Poolesville, Bullis, Woodson, North Stafford, Smithsburg, Century and Richard Montgomery.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Public-Private School Challenge

Urbana 41, Gerstell Academy 37

At McDonogh School, Kendal Haggerty led Urbana (4-4) with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Emma McCaskill had 10 rebounds for the Hawks. Sascha Bravin had seven. Hannah Orens, Spencer Rupinta and Jordyn Keller each had five.

Roland Park 80, Frederick 61

Frederick is 9-3 on the year. No other information on the game was available.

New Life 42, Faith Christian 22

Claire Socash led New Life Christian (6-10) with 24 points.

The Cadets dropped to 9-3. No details were provided.

Marshall Robinson had 15 points for New Life Christian (2-15).

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Lycoming 59, Hood 47

Maggie Tien led the Blazers with 16 points, including five 3-pointers. Ebony Pitt had a game-high four assists and four steals to go along with five rebounds.

The teams traded buckets in the early going with the Warriors holding a slight 13-11 advantage after one quarter. A 3-pointer in the final seconds of the first half by Lauren Keeney tied the game 24-24 heading into halftime.

A jumper by Morgan Anderson gave Hood an eight-point lead at the 6:22 mark in the third quarter, 35-27. Lycoming went on a 10-2 run and tied the game just over two minutes later with a three-pointer by Megan Helminiak, 37-37.

Hood was able to notch a 43-41 lead after three quarters, but Lycoming put together an 18-4 run to pull away in the final quarter.

Bryant 73, MSM 68

Bryant erased a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter for the win.

Michaela Harrison led Mount St. Mary’s with 15 points on 5-of-12 shooting. Ten of her points were in the third quarter.

Jatimak Settle scored 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting. Rebecca Lee and Lawless each had 10 points. Lee also recorded nine rebounds, finishing one shy of her second straight double-double.

Wesley Brown Invitational

Justin Kimble won the men’s 60 for Mount St. Mary’s (6.91 seconds) at the U.S. Naval Academy.

COLLEGE SWIMMING

Men: Hood 102, Immaculata 55

Max Riedel, Brooks Anderson and John Foley each won two events for Hood.

Women: Hood 87, Immaculata 43

Brianna Hand-Solomon and Danielle Pong were double-winners for Hood.
