District 2 9-10 Championship

Brunswick 4, Montgomery County Lower 3

Brandon Smith’s two-run, go-ahead single in the top of the sixth helped Brunswick win the district crown by beating host Montgomery County Lower on Sunday.

Brunswick advances to the state tournament in Baltimore, where it plays its first game at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

With Brunswick trailing 3-2 heading into the top of the sixth, it got back-to-back singles from Cole Renn and Landry Fowler, who reached on a bunt. Mason Barry then got hit by a pitch, loading the bases for Smith.

Renn was the winning pitcher.

District 2 Little League

Frederick National 7, Four County 3

Nathan Chappell had a home run, a triple and three RBIs to help host Frederick National prevail in a winners bracket game.

Frederick National hosts Brunswick in a winners bracket game at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

Jonah Oetken and Jack Scarzello each had a double for Four County.

In other the winners bracket game, Brunswick beat East Frederick 15-5. In

In elimination bracket games, Thurmont beat Mountain Valley 14-8, and Montgomery County Upper beat Montgomery County lower 6-2. On Tuesday, East Frederick will host Thurmont, and Four County will host Montgomery County upper.
