Olde Mother Brewing on North Market Street finished the final packaging Thursday of a new beer called Stew. The canned beer was brewed in honor of Lt. Andrew “Stew” Alcorn IV, the former head of criminal investigations for the Frederick Police Department who died at home Aug. 22 at the age of 39. Keith Marcoux, co-owner of Olde Mother and a longtime friend of Alcorn’s, said the officer of 19 years was like family at the brewery and that it was an honor to be able to release a beer in his memory. The American lager goes on sale Friday at noon. All of the proceeds will be donated to the Alcorn Family. Alcorn left behind a wife and three children.

Available at noon, but gone by 5 PM when I got there. Bummer. RIP Stew.
