Buy a purse, help Habitat

New and gently used purses, jewelry, shoes and an assortment of accessories, will be on sale during The Women Build! Habitat for Humanity of Frederick County’s Fourth Annual “The House is in the Bag” red carpet evening on Nov. 16, from 6 – 9 p.m. at Hollow Creek Golf Club, 50 Glenbrook Dr. in Middletown. FSK Audi, Lincoln, Volvo is the major sponsor of the event.

The ticket price of $30 includes hors d’oeuvres and silent and live auctions. “Handbags, heels, accessories, hors d’oeuvres and entertainment — all for $30 — what a great way to spend a Saturday evening,” said Donna Clayburn, project coordinator of the Frederick Women Build! program. One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit Women Build!

“Women Build! brings together women from all walks of life to address the housing crisis facing women and children in our local community,” Clayburn said.

A highlight of the evening will be the live auction from 8 – 9 p.m. of designer and unique handbags. Local musician Todd Walker will provide background entertainment, and a cash bar will be available. Tickets are required; call the Habitat for Humanity offices at 301-698-2449 to pay over the phone with a credit card, or mail a check to Habitat for Humanity, 2 E. Church Street, 3rd Floor, Frederick, Md., 21701

To be an event sponsor, help promote the event, or to donate new or gently used purses, shoes, scarves, hats or jewelry, contact event chairwoman Valerie Cramer, at or 703-965-5076.
